Balances on Gift cards

Okay perhaps I am the only one who only just discovered this but I am going to post it anyway.

If you have a gift card from Coles/Myer, Group that includes the following

Coles Group & Myer
Myer
Target
Kmart
Coles
Coles Express
BI-LO
Liquorland
Vintage Cellars
1st Choice Liquor
iTunes Music Cards

and you cannot find your last receipt or have no idea of the balance you can log onto

http://www.giftcards.com.au

Up in the top right hand of the screen you are able to check your balance by typing in the card number and the 4 digit pin number (both of which are on the back of your gift card) and it will give you the remaining balance.

I am sure Woolies and their group would have a similar method of checking so please feel free to post here if you know.

Thanks

Another tip for those interested...

If you have more than one Coles/Myer Group gift card you can add them all together and purchase one gift card so that you only have one in your purse/wallet instead of lots of them taking up space.

Just be careful about this. I work for Myer and we have been told that we are not allowed to do this anymore. You can always try your luck though!!

The other tip is in relation to expired cards. I know that at Myer we have still honoured them (we need to call Fraud watch to check the amount on them, but they are then re-issued with the correct amount). Hope this helps!

Woollies don't reissue expired cards so make sure you use them within the 12 months. :)

For those of you who buy wish cards, keep your receipts. I bought a $50 one a while back, went to use it on the weekend and was told it had a zero balance! I had to go to the shop I bought it from, and they said the woman who i purchased it from originally never put the credit on the card. If i didnt have my receipt it wouldve been tough luck...

simel this happened to us as well.
When my DD was born hubby's workmates put in and got us a David Jones voucher. We didn't get around to spending it until she was about 9 months old and it had never been "verified" or such. A real shame because so many people put money in and we had chosen some beautiful things for our bub. We complained to customer service, even going in to the city to try and sort it out but the manager wouldn't talk to us, just told his staff to tell us there was nothing we could do! We should have gone in earlier and maybe they could have helped us.

Hi Fatima, What sort of info were you after.

If its to find out what balance you have on a card there was an area on the right side of the screen to put in your card number and pin number to check. (These are usually on the back of your wishcard).

Cheers Marg.

Oh Katep thats terrible. What a shame.

my partner used to get his monthly bonuses in coles/ myer giftcards which was so useful to spend on groceries etc.... however this xmas just gone I was tidying up my purse and found about 8 - i checked the balances online and they ranged from $20 - $1.20 left.....

i wish i'd known that you could send them to get just one cos i stood at Target paying for xmas gifts to get rid of these darn giftcards saying things like 'this one has $1.23 on it left. LMAO :(
