Interesting fact re number of entries.
The recent Coles 'Win a trip to New York' by buying 3 dairy products had 6800 entries. (Fact from 'Dairy Australian' Mag, Aug 06). |

Wow - that's not really that many is it?
I wonder if it is because it was a trip to the USA? Some people seem a bit funny about that now days (ie. security scares etc...).

I didn't bother with that one for that very reason , also have heaps of cheese in the freezer from Chill Out & Win & the pizza topping comp ,
don't even remember the prize for that .

What is the average amount of entries for a comp like this?

I won a runners up prize in the Pandaroo trip to Hong Kong competition earlier in the year, the lady who rang said they had about 1200 entries and
were very happy with the response. I thought they would have had heaps more!
I remember one of our lottos lovelies attending a competition draw maybe last year, it was a premium icecream product, there were from memory about 5
prizes and the promotor estimated there were about 700 entries (maybe the lottos member that attended can remember better than me!!) At the time I was
shocked at how few entries there actually were.
Just goes to show that if you spread your entries around you could end up in a comp with very good odds indeed.
I think the Dairy products one may have had few entries because you had to buy 3 products.

I have a couple of questions about this comp. I was cleaning up tonight and found an unopened envelope addressed to me - it was $100 Coles gift
voucher from this competition! I only entered 2 times!
How many winners were there? Have they published the major winners or the minor winners?
Thanks so much to the poster - but I cannot find the competition thread.

wow I thought there'd be about 100,000 entries to most big comps in major stores!! how far out am I !! My luck must be really bad, as I rarely win
& with those odds I should be doing better!

I won a $100 coles gift card too from this comp and I'm pretty sure I put through 2 entries. So I bought 2 lots of 3 products. I'm happy as I would
buy those products anyway and so it is a bonus to win.
I was suprised to win but I guess people are not really going to buy up big on these types of products the way they would with chocolate comps.
When I went through all the items, there was quite a bit of cheese on the list. And I guess people can't justify buying so much of that. I guess
you would feel quite sick eating so much of it! Thankfully I use quite a bit for cannelloni and pasta bakes etc.
It is interesting to find out the number of entries. I wish all comps provided those types of stats. Then we'd know which ones had better odds.
However since being a member I am figuring out that the TV comps (today show) etc are rare to win. And the comps that require a purchase and then a
25WOL have better odds because most people see it as too much trouble.
Well....not the compers!  |
