Zen and Tonic 250wol non winning entries
Hi everyone - I remember people saying that they spent ages getting together an entry for a $50 clover dinner set from Zen and Tonic. Thought I'd
share my attempt below: (Q was 250wol tell us about your new year's resolution).
She was a whale of a lass,
Poor health had lead to an embarrassing mass.
In 2006 she said NO MORE!
And went straight up to the gymnasium door.
Body jam, pump, aqua aerobics and spin,
She was bloody determined to one day be thin.
But looking around she saw men in small tights,
Muscly ladies of substantial heights.
Mirrors abound from roof to floor,
People checking themselves out once they’ve enter the door.
Comparing bodies, putting themselves down,
All of the egocentrics converge in this part of town.
As I walked in dozens of eyes rested on me,
Making me feel as small as can be.
I hid in the back corner as the regulars broke a sweat,
Knowing they were all as fit as one can get.
Congratulating each other on a wonderful session,
My breathless body was in a state of depression.
Grabbed my drink bottle and packed my yoga mat,
Bugger this – I’d rather be fat!
No offence to gym junkies cause I do actually like going! 
I mustn't get distracted. Hmm, distracted, that's a funny word. I wonder if someone can get tracted?

Hi MDU - they sent an email saying that they announced the winner a few days early, and included the winning entry as well. Unfortunately I deleted
the email, but hopefully another lottos member kept it and will be able to post it.
I mustn't get distracted. Hmm, distracted, that's a funny word. I wonder if someone can get tracted?

My New Year's Resolution
Was easy to decide,
To look at my achievements
And those of others with pride
I often do not see myself
As other people do,
I need to stop, relax and think
Of what I've made of my life - it's true.
I need to look within and see
My family and friends,
That bring me joy and happiness
For one never knows when ones life just ends.
So often people help us
And all that we can do,
Is forget to express our feelings
We need to think of others too.
As to express our thoughts out loud
Can often be quite hard,
So if someone does something for me
I'll thank them or give them a present or a card.
There will be lots more thank you's
More hugs and kisses too
For people like to be appreciated
So expressing my feelings is what I'll do.
And lastly I must start to spend
Some quality time on me
It's not being selfish - it's time to reflect
On my many achievements |

Forget the cliches, don't work anyway,
Want to challenge life to MAKE MY DAY!
Work less, play MORE,
Isn't THAT what life is for?
CHALLENGE myself ... be best I can be,
No material goals that I can see!
S-T-I-M-U-L-A-T-I-N-G my mind to be one of a kind,
Develope like a rare treasure that's hard to find!
CHALLENGE myself... no internal stress,
Is today my last day? Won't EVEN guess!
Happier, healthier I will be,

This was mine:

As we both sat down to tea
“Another year, I dare not look…
Hast thou yet learned how to cook?”
“No my love” I said to him
“2006 is looking grim..
But don’t give up, you are alive…
You survived the dishes from 2005”
“Yes my love, that is true…
I will never eat Cordon Bleu…
Spag Bol every night for dinner…
At least you can make water simmer”
“But I have a plan” I said to he
“It involves a website called Z and T…
It will matter not what’s on the plate
The setting is what makes it great!”
“I really now have the solution
And for 2006 I make this resolution
Stay with me until 2007

Might as well throw my non winning entry into the losing pot !!
It's that time of year, when we fool ourselves.
More promises are made, then left on the shelf.
I would like to think, it will be different this year.
I've made a promise, to drink less beer.
True to form, it's a promise I won't keep.
So sad, too bad, I won't lose any sleep.
Maybe I should get real, and take this serious.
My wife always thinks, I'm a little delirious.
I'll start that diet, that always threatens.
Lose a pound or two, exercise till I',m sweating.
That sounds too hard, especially if I'm drinking.
More beer won't help, what ever was I thinking.
I've never smoked before, so that resolution is out.
Maybe I should start, that much I doubt.
I can't keep any promises, and that;s the truth.
So take me as I am, LOUD, PROUD and UN-COUTH ! |

Gosh you people are all so talented. I would never attempt a 250 wol
I have to be in the mood to even try a 25 wol
All the above entries are winners as far as I'm concerned. I'd hate to be a judge.
