FHM anybody ever won? |

I used to use whit and rhymes for FHM and never won, which made me wonder as I normally win anywhere from 10-30 prizes a month from the many comps I
enter through different publications and online. So I decided to ring FHM (ACP Magazines) quite a few years ago, and directly ask about their
competitions and who judges them, and they advised that it was mainly the reps and promoters of the direct companies giving away the prizes that do
the judging.
From that point on all my entries to FHM went from witty rhymes, humour or slogan bangs/pushes, to straight down the line entries, aimed at the
marketing side of the potential judges, and as a result I have won quite a few of their large prizes.
For instance one of the giveways was a commercial brand coffee machine. My answer was similar to:
I currently use a XXX (brand name) to make coffee for all my friends/colleagues and if I win your XXX (brand name), they can all try it out.
Simple, to the point, and a couple of months later a brand new coffee machine arrives, and I gave away my original one to a (very happy and surprised)
friend! I guess the judges liked the idea of their item getting valuable exposure by users who can potentially buy the item, just like their adverts
getting maximum exposure.
Armed with that new info and using that tact, I have won quite a few very big prizes with them (I don't enter all of their competitions, just the
items I really want to win).
I can only presume that a lot of their smaller fun style giveaways would still be won on wit/humour/rhyme/slogan pumping (I can't say though because I
only enter for items I want specifically), and this method has worked for me with FHM. Give it a try!

no wins from FHM, but ive had two wins from ZOO within a month!
both my entries also were borderline obscene- very 'blokey yobbo' answers. they seem to like it.
i guess you just have to alter your styles for each different company! |
