Honesty pays

The question was what is your favourite Oliver Stone movie and why?

I had never heard of him and it was time for bed so I simply said:

"I’m between a ‘rock and a hard place’ because off the top of my head I don’t know any Oliver Stone movies (at least I’m honest)"


and it won!

That's great.

I once entered a comp where you had to state what question would you ask if you got to meet a particular movie director. I had never even heard of this person before so I spent ages researching the person's background, his movies, critics reviews etc. It was for a very arty/intellectual newspaper section so I developed a highly intellegent answer which I submitted. I didn't win. :P I don't think arty or intellegent are my areas of strength. :P:P:P I wonder if the honesty approach would have worked better for that comp. :cool:

You're joking! I would never have thought that they would choose an answer that didn't know the topic. It was very well put though.

It gives me hope coz I rarely know my topic.
