I have no idea what a chestnut is either.
posted 20-4-2010 @ 05:51 PM www

Gosh I am in trouble then because I've used variations of that without knowing it's a "chestnut".
posted 20-4-2010 @ 06:28 PM www

what does chestnut mean???:o

Chestnuts -

Found this on the internet to try and explain the term "Chestnut"

For help with tiebreakers check out Winspiration.

The site is packed with winning slogans. They also have winning slogans which are described as "chestnuts". This means the same slogans win competitions time and time again!
If you're stuck for a tiebreaker answer why not try and re-work a chestnut slogan to fit?

and

Chestnut A tiebreaker that has been used and reworked for many years, they are often still used as winning slogans even though originality is asked for.

oohhh ok,,, thanks:)
posted 20-4-2010 @ 06:49 PM www

Mine wasn't one of the chestnuts...it was all my own work, prolly explains why it didnt win :P

posted 20-4-2010 @ 07:01 PM www

Oh ok, I understand now.
posted 20-4-2010 @ 07:02 PM www

I dont think I would feel right copying one of those slogans! I like using my brain, when it works that is :P
posted 20-4-2010 @ 07:48 PM www

js1988 that is so clever and different!! Well done, much better than copying a "chestnut".... having said that I've already printed off that page for some winspiration ! LOL :o
posted 20-4-2010 @ 07:51 PM www

js1988 I loved your entry, think its brilliant, I orginally thought it was the winning one until I read your post, it was very original, I would have picked it as the winner:)

1. Yes it was I who won this fab prize, thanks Rytchbytch for posting.
2. My answer was NOT copied from anywhere and I find it offensive from those who missed out to come up with unsubstantiated allegations. Certainly plenty of assumptions and conjecture out there. I thought of it at the spur of the moment and luckily the judges liked mine ahead of the other entries.
3. This is the perfect example of why me, and a lot of others in the Lottos Community, do not disclose big wins or our winning WOL's

No offense intended kombi and really sorry if it sounded like I accused you of copying :( Well done and enjoy your awesome prize!!!!:)
posted 20-4-2010 @ 08:37 PM www

Sorry Kombi I wasn't accusing you of anything, I didn't even know about the chestnuts site and that it existed until someone pointed it out. I would assume that many answers are always the same anyway because only so many words can rhyme with each other.....
Enjoy your prize
posted 20-4-2010 @ 08:45 PM www

Congrats Kombi, my entry also appears and it certainly wasn't a "chestnut":)

I suppose it's a little bit like when kids tell you jokes that are a hundred years old but they think they're new. :D

3littlepigs, yours reminded me of a story on an old radio programme called My Word. There was a very long explanation to explain his 'to do' list, soup a cauli fridge elastic eggs pea halitosis. I think I heard that in about 1982 and still remember it :-)
