How to view Public Notices each day!

I hope this is ok to post and that I am posting this in the correct spot?

After chatting to some fellow comping friends I realised others may not know about this.

As long as you have a library card, The Australian Public Notices can be viewed each day (FOR FREE) through your local library website.

This is how it can be done:

Go to this web site (this is my local library website so not sure if the layout is the same for all or not)

http://www.erl.vic.gov.au/info/ondbase.htm#news

Click on PressDisplay Search from home (second from bottom)

Enter your library card number (once you have typed it in once it should stay there!!!)

Wait for it to load (can be slow)

Click on Australia in newspaper section on the right hand side

Then click on The Australian newspaper with the date you want normally right at the start.

Double click on the Australian front page. Then you can either use the table of contents at the top of the screen (although I notice over the last few days that option has not been at teh top of teh page) and it will drop down a list (Classifieds are not always listed that way I have found) or It will bring up thumbnails on the left hand side. Then you need to go through and locate the public notices. They are sometimes tricky to find and you have to guess a little. They are generally under the “Commentary” section. Then double click and use your mouse to move up and down Voila ALL the public notices are there for your viewing!

Happy Comping

Thanks fantagirl, but isn't it just as easy, well easier actually, to go to the top of the lottos page and Click on the "Aust. Newspaper" heading??? ;)

It is but I find more often than not (as in this morning for example) not all the PN's show up.

It's not that easy anymore since they changed the format. Andrew has a post about it somewhere but I just can't find it.

I actually went into the library to enquire if it was at all possible and they showed me how to do it so maybe check with the library in person? When I went in the librarian actually said it's only a new thing and had been available to them for about 5 days (so it was a coincidence I happened to ask) maybe some of these libraries haven't got the same system yet? Saying that I'm actually really surprised (but happy) our tiny little library has it!!!! Sorry your all having trouble.

Why did they have to change our daily ritual on the Australian website.......dont they realise the whole "if it aint broke" approach!!!

Fantagirl you are the BEST!!!

I love it, it's so easy once you actually login in and find them.

For people in Brisbane or QLD try this link

http://library.pressdisplay.com.ezproxy.slq.qld.gov.au/press...

Follow Fantagirls instructions and it should work

Thanks again Fantagirl :D

Has anyone found a library with this service in NSW...I've tried the Sydney City, Leichhardt and Sydney Uni services, and they don't do whole page newspapers, just search for articles, which of course don't show the PNs.
Thanks

Thanks, that's where I got to....for today's date for The Australian, I get the text of 247 articles, but no classifieds.
