OMG! I WON A SCOOTER WORTH $6700!!! After some advice also:)

Hi all i am in shock i won a scooter today, got a letter in the mail, what a shock! it was from the summer rewind comp, i entered 5 times:)
prize also comes with 1 yrs rego , 1 yrs 3rd party insurance and dealers charges and delivery

Just after some advice, anyone who has won some sort of vehicle, have you been able to work out some type of deal with the dealership for less cash and they keep it on the lot??
Just a thought as i really need a car and this type of cash would be all i need, i would think it would be easier to do that than to take it then try and sell it??
Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Great win. Congratulations!!!!
I won a vespa years ago worth the same amount. I waited until I got it registered and received and then I sold it.

Congrats. You would normally be able to do a deal with the dealership but it would have to be a win-win situation. e.g. he may give you $5000 for it and then sell it for the full price, so you both get a deal out of it.

Can't hurt to ask and find out what price would be negotiable.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I agree with ladylucklovesme, better to get it in your name, then sell it.

if it is a car dealership you could ask if you could do a deal.

But most wouldn't do it as then they aren't fulfilling their T&C

Did you have a bike licence lol I don't, will have to wait and see i guess how this is all going to work, if i can approach the dealer ship i would be more than happy with $5000 and they can keep it lol
thanks for your help:) do you remember how much you got for it privately selling.

Trade it in for a car? I've heard of people winning new cars and using them as a trade for a used car, and getting the $$ difference.
Haven't had the pleasure myself, though!!

Congrats!! Exciting win!

Congrats erjuka! I won a vespa a couple of years ago and we took a cash payout from the dealer.

You will probably make more money if you pick it up and then trade it or sell it but it wasn't worth the hassel for us as we lived too far away and none of us had a licence. We would have had to pay to pick it up.

I think we got between half and two thirds of its value in cash. Ask them and see what they say.

Disagree , once it is taken from the Dealership it looses value & then is up to you to sell as a second hand vehicle .
When I won my BMW a good friends hubby contacted the dealership for me & was offered a good price , just had to sign a statement to say on receipt of the cheque I was giving up all rights to the car .Of course you loose the value of the rego & insurance , but much easier than having to get a road worthy & hoping you can sell it yourself.

Or as others have said about trading it for a car if the dealership have them .
The big thing is once you take pocession it is classed as second hand .

Congrats !!!!!erjuka , well done .

Congratulations on your exciting win! I've won 4 vespas now, 3 have had to be picked up from the same dealer and one from an importer. Every time I asked the going price at the delivering dealer I got an offer of about 40-50% of the rrp. Remember rrp is over inflated usually anyway and no car or bike dealer sells at rrp these days. Just pick it up - great buzz anyway! ( & a good photo opportunity to remind you of your win! ) get it registered and then advertise it yourself. Will probably only have 30 odd k's on it at delivery which is pretty normal, so you can advertise it 'like new' and with full warranty etc. Each one I've ended up getting about $1000 under the retail value.

Well done erjuka - that's awesome!!!

I would probably pick it and then probably advertise it at bikesales.com.au.... and with it's very low kms....think people would definitely buy it at a very good price.......since it's basically brand new...only my opinion...good luck and hope you get a great price...;);)

congratulations Vespa's are gorgeous bikes.

I won a LX150 Vespa around 2 years ago it was valued at $7'600 which included 12 mths rego, the dealer offered $4000 for it to which I refused. I hired a bike trailer to get it home so I didn't put 50km on it. It was worth it, I recall every second caller asking if the 2km advertised was a missprint. lol. I ended up selling it in the paper for $5600 to a lovely lady. Just some advice be aware if you get the choice of colour to make sure it appeals to either gender. The colour I chose was midnight blue and everyone that viewed it loved the colour. Goodluck with the sale, I reckon if I ever won another I would definately keep it this time ;)
