Calling on purchase comp winners...

posted 24-2-2011 @ 07:08 PM www

I won a trip to Melbourne with one purchase from Priceline - I always figured I was the only entry, but I guess not!

My biggest win was $100,000.00 with three entries. Second largest was a Nissan X-trail with two. Then again I entered the mars comp a LOT and got nothing....so it's as everyone says, luck of the draw.

I won a $65,000 trip with 11 entries and a motorbike with one.

Yes..it's pure luck. Last year I won a $40000 car with one entry. If I can, you can!
I never buy lots of products for competitions. I figure if you are going to win it a couple of entries will do. If it is something I use regularly I may have more entries but I would never waste money stocking up on cartons and cartons of stuff like some compers seem to do.

We get paid monthly so I tailor my shopping around comps. For example, I still have 32 boxes of Nivea soap from the last two comps and just bought another 14 today but it means that when there is no soap comp on I dont buy soap. I have enough deodorant to last a year (or more) and no longer need to buy any (unless a good comp comes up).
I bulk buy when there is a competition and the product is on special, BUT I only buy things that we use. Generally this works for me as I now have a big supply of pantry basics and just shop for perishables on a regular basis.
I have won bits an pieces here and there and most of my wins come from only a few entries, but I dont feel like I am wasting money because I only buy things we use and when an electricity bill comes or the car need work then I dont need to buy any of those things and put the money towards that. I could easily not buy any soap, washing powder, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner, vegemite, soup etc for at least 3 months and in some cases much longer.
Just remember to only shop within your means and try to focus on things that you use anyway and that are on special ;)

Bah! Humbug! :envy:
Never been successful with these!
Only got CONTINENTAL MUGS and that wasn't really a comp :o

Do you enter the That's life and Take 5 mags, and all the puzzle books? I have regular wins from them- though I am still hanging out for that car!:lol::lol:

Listen to the stayers. Enter and forget. I won a book last week from some obscure comp and the letter said they got 6000 entries! Imagine how may enter the popular comps. Just look at the name of our group and consider all entries free lottos entries.

Prize wins 2014: $37680
Prize wins 2011: $13000
previous years about $25000

The harder you work the luckier you get

I figure I can't really afford to buy enough of a product to make that much of a difference to my chances given the enormous numbers of entries they get so I just buy a few (only if we can use them) and enter and forget.
I won a Thailand trip with two entries, that's my biggest win so far, but have picked up probably a$1000 of vouchers, giftcards and a toaster, DVDs etc They all come in handy and tide me over while I am waiting for a big win!
I love WOL comps, I figure there are going to be fewer ebtries and my chances are better. I just resent WOL comps that also reqiure a purchase! Come on promoters, give us a break!! Still, the harder it is to enter it the better your odds!
Good luck!

For me I have a set budget for groceries each week and is already expensive enough as is. So with purchase comps I usually on tally it on to regular grocery shopping if i can squeeze it in or its already on my list anyway. Otherwise I buy it myself out my personal money from voucher wins/sales etc.

Comping can be quite pricey when you add up stamps, sms, products, magazines... Ive backed off buying T5 and TL lately since its almost $40 a month with both mags each week and then the stamps to mail in the entries and its just not paying off in wins to justify it. Ive won a few things on purchase comps but nothing huge or major and I have a 2011 receipt book full of receipts since January and ive only had reason to retrieve a receipt once.

You hear all the sayings, " gotta be in it to win it and " someones gotta win might aswell be you " but unless your some of a lucky few is usually not you. So like others have said stick within your means and hope for the best. G Luck
