Funny or serious 25WOL work for you?
I know people aren't into sharing their winning entries (completely understand) but I am so curious to know-
Of your WINNING 25WOL answers- were they funny or serious?
Typically I answer things with funny one liners, but I'm starting to do the longer more serious ones.... |

Don't win enough WOL to be helpful lol, I often see witty and clever WOL as winning entries |

You can often tell by the question which one they want. If they're light hearted in their intro then that is what they want. A serious subject like
Anzac Day for example, needs a serious answer. Humour is not easy to insert in 25 WOL but winners I have seen (and my own winners) have often just
been light hearted with a clever twist. Good luck. |

I have a lot of touble being serious so most of my answers have a funny/silly slant. I don't think some of the promoters appreciate my sense of
humour though. 
As fred said, it often depends on the question, but really how serious can you be with "why do you want to win this?" after you've entered it hundreds
of times. |

I often think mine are hilarious but obviously the promoter doesn't. Often the hint is in the question. Some people think of good answers off the top
of their head.
For me lately I am having a bit of success with researching the promoter and the question, so hard work really.
At the end of the day there is no right way , no wrong way its just the opinion of who is judging that day. |

If only I knew I'd have more wins!
Sometimes I've done a funny answer and when I've read the winning one I've realised mine was the wrong tone completely for the promoter.
There is always a risk that the judges don't have the same sense of humour as you, however if you can make them laugh you have a good chance.
I do agree that often the tone of the question gives a clue, and also who the promoter is. I think magazine/movie type comps are more suited to funny
answers ( eg the recent WHO one where you had to say which celebrity bridesmaids you'd have). But product competitons are more likely to want you to
research their product and write something positive about it ( eg L'Occitaine trip to France where you had to say what you like best about the brand).
However I could be completely wrong! |

I was always looking for a different angle when writing these, trying to be clever. But the winning words or less I have read for comps are usually
really obvious but well written answers. |
