Barcodes- what not to collect
Hi
I have taken the advice of old compers and am collecting all barcodes.
Are there any where it is just not worth it? E.g Homebrand generic items?
Many thanks |

I guess we'll never know who's going to have a comp down the line (even the generic brands). Better to be safe than sorry I say
I used to save everything but stopped about 18 months ago. I was very happy last night to have 4 Snappy Tom barcodes and search from my old collecting
to find the spare 5th one I needed LOL.
Think I'd better go back to saving them again....

I don,t collect the barcodes of products that I use all the time, eg milk, bread , whiskas as I don,t like to put in heaps of enteries for one comp. I
collect the ones I rarely buy like cottees, masterfoods, arnotts. Depends on what you buy and how bigbyour b/c folder is! |

Folder, you use a folder???????
Would you be shocked if I told you my mother uses a 2 draw filing cabinet with a suspension file for each brand?
My filing system consists of envelopes in a large tupperware container filed alphabetically.
As for which to keep, I keep pretty much the whole lot. I don't worry about home brands though. In addition to barcodes I also keep:
- keystones off heinz baby food
- kleenex tear outs
- cadbury schwepps usually ask for the label or wrapper so I keep the entire label/packaging. |

Me too,I've been collecting for years and it's amazing how many Golden Circle labels I found to use in the current comp.
I use shoe boxes with envelopes labelled inside, with one box that I throw them into on a daily basis. |

I have an A4 sized envelope for each brand of barcodes. The envelopes are filed in a storage box in alphabetic order. That said there are only two of
us and we don't have a lot of processed food so collecting and sorting is easy. |

I don't bother to keep SPC baked beans or spaghetti, can't remember the last comp they had,do others agree or have I missed one! I have a couple of
boxes of barcodes, but I rarely use them,as some are a few years old and companies seem to change their packaging so you can't! Plus now you need a
receipt for a lot as well,so old ones are useless

today I decided to go thru some of my saved labels... And found about 10 or more golden circle labels. Warning to anyone else who is using saved
labels, they are different now! The numbers are a little larger now and above the code is PRODUCT OF AUSTRALIA written on a yellow background. I also
found a heap of vegemite labels only to find they have changed to.

Wow ... now I know why I never win anything!
I only enter comps with products I've just bought (and therefore only 1 or 2 entries) because I've always thought that ALL comps will ask you for POP
in order to claim ... or at least if you won the major prize! And I would so kick myself if I got a call to say I'd won a car or something like that
only to not have a receipt!
I think I might start saving more barcodes now! But I'll have to change my daily habits when finishing a packet/can etc of something ... the number
of times I've intended on saving the barcode for something only to remember it when its right at the bottom of the bin covered in last nights dinner
left overs or something! (Gross, or what!) Or worse still, the day after bin day & its gone forever!
