Do you have a comping system/routine?

Having not won much lately, I'm wondering whether I'm stuck in a rut. Comping has changed a lot over the past decade or so, but maybe I haven't changed enough with it.

I tend to start by checking what's new on the 'Last 24hrs of Posts' section, then 'All Comps Closing Within 10 Days' section to at least make sure I've entered anything finishing on the current day. If I purchased recently, I'll enter any purchase comps that I can. Then I usually have some Daily or Unlimited entry comps to enter. Then I'll check if I've bookmarked any comps to enter later and get those done.

This is done during spare time over the course of a day and finished in the evening. Looks like a thorough system, but I don't win much.

I think it's just much harder to win these days for a variety of reasons.

I get my morning coffee and sit on the couch with my laptop and enter until I finish my coffee. I don't win much either, but looking at the tally every year, most of us don't :)

I do most of my comping on week ends when I am working, attached to a phone cord in call centre (working from home). I have down time often in between calls.
And evenings, sometimes I put my phone or computer down to talk to my husband.
If I have mobile in my hand, I can't help but use it for comping. I often edit, cut and paste videos at night

I look at comp since last visit, comps closing them s do a search for any prize I am interested in, and update the comping shopping list, which makes me aware of other comps. I win a lot of books. I'm happy.
I also keep a spreadsheet of wins so I know if prizes have arrived, although with most I had no idea they were coming.

Prize wins 2014: $37680
Prize wins 2011: $13000
previous years about $25000

The harder you work the luckier you get

Yes, I aim to enter 30 and try to post 10 new competitions per day, Monday - Saturday. I keep a tally and tick it off. Some days I try to enter starting from the closing date and work my way through. Others I start from the ones posted that day. I often do it early morning before my kids wake up, or later in the evening when they are asleep.

Prize totals:
2017: $37,521
2018: $9,375
2019: $23,955
2020: $22,765
2021 $32,484
2022: $41,760
2023: $58,522

I have the exact routine that you have Smiley. I tend to be pretty selective so l don't win very much. I have won the most on Purchase required comps, especially Ritches IGA. They wanted to ban me from the shop lol. I live in a small town.

New other posts, less vote request
New comp posts
Ending in 10 days, less marked (every few days just to check I haven’t missed anything)

Hardly ever look at daily entry comps. I tend to look through what I have marked to enter and put some in every now and then.

The way I use other comp tracker options
X is obvious
Yellow question mark for follow up to enter. Usually look at these daily (or more often) and enter what I feel like at the time and/or write down the questions for wol comps to think about them and start putting ideas down
Star for purchase comps

Every second weekend I do a run of comp entries for a couple of hours.
During my lunch breaks on work days I enter for 30 mins a couple of days a week.
Winning a bit not a lot, every year I try to beat the year before $$value and record it along with gins and bonuses outside of this space.
Anything is good and exciting to get movie tickets and event tickets for free.
Makes it very enjoyable and worthwhile.

I think the word "selective" might be the key here. Like you and many of us now, we're far more selective. I guess we're limiting ourselves, however, there's no point entering for prizes we either don't want or need anymore.

Purchase comps are my faves too and Ritchies has been good for me too. However, I've gotten a better response from my store. They are happy for me to win and I've even had managers and staff come up to me to congratulate me and say how happy they are that a local or regular customer won.
I once even got a WPC from my local Ritchies manager while I was in the store. When I told him, he came straight to talk to me.

Smiley I was joking about banning me from the shop. The manager is great. He even takes photos of us together when l win something. I know nearly everyone in the store. They always ask me if l've won anything lately. I love shopping there because everyone is so friendly.

I check all new posts, revisit my comments to myself to see if need to enter daily.

I try keep comps entered at 100 and can get up to 150ish then end of month drops under 100 so ramp up.

I visit lotto's few times a day because I am retired.

I do most of my comping after breakfast with my morning coffee. I normally habitat all comps last 24 hours except for vote requests, entered or not interested. Which by the way has anyone else noticed that the vote comps have become few and far between thank goodness.

Like many others I am finding less and less comps I enter. It is pointless me entering any event or accomodation comp because I live in North Qld and there is nothing here and it would cost much more than it would be worth to get there. Same goes for holidays unless they include travel and not just from a capital city. With streaming these days movie tickets are another one that has gone for me but even earlier on our towns cinema would only show a small selection of movies that were out at the time so I would have so many unused tickets. My grandkids are now at school so no more baby comps. I am also past all the lotions and potions and self tanning etc.

I used to average over 400 a month now my entered comps are lucky to peak at 100. I long for the days way back when where the prizes were useful like a years worth of laundry powder. I also long for the technology comps because tech lasts just a couple of years before it has to be upgraded so it is like a consumable yet there are so few tech comps and appliances and even T.V's
