Okay here's my tip.

I have an S26 formula tin (empty) on my bench in the kitchen. Whenever I finish something or open a tin, I remove the label/barcode, write on the back what it was from and put it in the tin. When the tin's full, I transfer each label or barcode into an alphabetical filing box with 26 cardboard storing envelopes in it. One for each letter. That way when a comp comes up I just go to the letter and find my barcodes ready. It's a real bugger when its a 'must have receipt' comp....but never mind. Hope this helps.:D...oh another hint if you store barcodes like me...some companies change the size or look of their barcodes for a new comp so double check your old ones against the same product in the shops when a comp comes up for that product.

i use a similar system but use a plastic bag and a portafile and envelopes with the brand names on them!

works a treat too (when i sort the barcodes) lol

I was always under the impression that you can only use barcodes from the same badge number eg. same promotion. I didn't know that it's only limited to the product or store. :wow:

bar codes

Fantastic

I did not realise you could keep the
bar codes in case of more Comps.
I have never entered comps before
and I'm finding these hints very helpful

Thanks Heaps;)

Storing barcodes

Bar codes don't change from store to store. However sometimes they change the colour etc across an entire range e.g. Arnotts choc. biscuits changed the barcode colour to red a couple of years back.
I have separate labelled envelopes in a drawer in alphabetical order for all the products I regularly use e.g. one for Liptons, one for John West etc etc and I take the bar codes off and file them as I use the products. Doesn't help if the comp needs POP within the timeframe of the comp though. I hate those!

Killing 2 birds with one stone

I store my barcodes in snap lock plastic bags (separate ones for each product) in a file.

The Glad comp at the moment is very useful as I was able to buy a whole lot of Glad snap lock bags which I'll use for comping but also am able to use the barcodes from their boxes to enter the Glad comp.

€I also cut off barcodes, put them in container on window sill then sort them out alphabetically into my plastic bags. Works for me.
