envelopes

i am new at comps. and would like to ask some advice about envelopes. does envelope colour and size increase your chance of winning. i have heard that bigger envelopes get drawn more often and certain colours attract more attention and get picked as winning entries. could someone tell me if this is right. i am really looking forward to hearing everyones experience and advice. thanks.

Roni's often have packets of 25 envelopes in pink, green or yellow 2 packs for $4 which is pretty cheap! I also found a stand outside a local newsagents the other day rubber banded groups of 20 mixed envelopes I got some biggish ones in purple, yellow and white and some really funky ones with black or red or leopard skin patterns on them. They were $1.30 for 20. I'm saving the leopard skin ones for something really special ;) :pig: :pig: :pig:

I spent a 3 month period in which I used only coloured envelopes for my comping and in that time my success rate actually decreased rather than increased. It may just have been bad luck or maybe they purposely avoid the coloured ones because it appears desperate. I even used hulk green envelopes decorated with hulk stickers for the maggi hulk comp but that ploy didnt work either. Since I have switched back to white envelopes I have been pulled out a few times...in the end I think you are either destined to win or not.

Yay! If everyone starts sending in green envelopes, my plain white ones are REALLY going to stand out!;)

I sometimes use postcards. Can get them cheap from different places. I have won from them a few times. Doesn't work if need to put in an entry form but works for just 25wol.

Ok

seeing as i have to go home early ill tell ya!

I sometimes send in cardboard, yeah like cardboard from a box, cut into the size of an envelope.

i put on it all the required details and send it in.

Sometimes I get cheeky and actually draw like the outline of an envelope on the cardboard.

Cardboard is good because its tough and doesnt bend, it certainly stands out and if you have to write 25 words on the back your almost guaranteed to have your answer at least read.

its strange but it has won me the odd prize, so it certainly works.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!:D

A lot of competitions specify that you have to use a standard size envelope, and a friend who used to work at Mars told me they used to pull out and throw out anything bigger than standard.

Didn't say anything about colours though - maybe the rainbow approach is worth a try!!

Officeworks has a great supply of coloured envelopes - any colour that you like! I think they are $3.95 for 25 or something like that. Not sure if coloured envelopes work better or not. I once saw a photo in the newspaper of the entries for a "win a trip on the siberian train" and the pile was MASSIVE!. ;)

envelopes

My newsagency told me that when the unsold cards are returned to companies such as hallmark, they don't want the envelopes back. They keep a big draw full of coloured, plain and different sized and shaped envelopes. They charge 5c per envelope which means that you get 20 for $1.00 which is a bargain, cause at least the flap sticks down.

You can also buy packs of 10 from king kong, crazy clarks etc for around $2.00, but that's still a rip off in comparison.

My friend an excellent comper also uses envelopes made in our home town, ie. they say

greetings from geraldton

she has won a few comps by doing this.

I regularly buy these dis-used coloured envelopes for 5c each, one time a got a whole bunch for nothing!!! Must've taken my nice pills that day.

The only thing I've won lately was a Breville wok in the Asia at Home/Aristos comp but I entered that one on-line.

Unless they stated this in the T and C's it wouldnt be legal to throw anyones entry out and they would find themselves in a lot of trouble if they were caught .

I just believe, and hope that ..............

With all the regulation of comps, that it does not matter what envelopes you use. For me its just white plain !, PB
