Word & Character Counter

Well there's not too much to say about this one. It takes any old string as input and outputs the number of characters and words in it.

It should be useful for testing text before inserting it into a database or whenever you've got a limit on storage.

Here is the character and word counter page I find really useful. I was telling the Adelaide bunch about it at lunch today. :D

Word Counter

Cut & Paste Word Count- This is totally brilliant!!

http://www.lottos.com.au/countwords.html

If you're typing your novel into a word processor, like Microsoft Word, then it probably already has a built-in word count utility. However, if you're just typing your novel in a plain text editor, like Word Pad, then here's what you can do:

Open up the page/chapter you are working on.

Use your mouse to highlight/select the contents of the page.

Press the CTRL key and hold it down while pressing the letter C on your keyboard. This will copy what you've selected and store it to your Windows clipboard.

Return to this "Word Count" webpage

Place your cursor in the form field (the big box) above.

Now press the CTRL key and hold it down while pressing the letter V on your keyboard. This will take the text that you stored to your clipboard and will paste it into the box above.

Press the "Count Words" button, and it will return your word count.

You can save the Word Count webpage to your own computer if you'd like. That way you can add it to your browser's bookmarks or onto your desktop and open it up to use it even when you're not attached to the internet.

Handy new comping tool for 25wol

Here's a great aid for 25wol comps. No more having to painfully count your words.
In fact it's positively inspiring!

LOL absolutely not :)
I know the sweet guy who made it and he's not a comper, just likes making creative web things. There's no way anyone else can see what you write, it's not stored anywhere. You can keep your own record by mailing it to yourself tho.

Well do you think you could get him to create one where we just type in the 25wol question and it generates a prize winning answer for you?

:P:P:P

What a nice time-saving device - and maybe those people that put in more than 25 wol should utilise it too!!

I have a question,

I looked at this....but it adds don't as two words..which it isn't.

But my question is.....when promotors read and check 25WOL's do they place the entries into one of these checkers...or do they coun't it manually. Because alot of my entries are coming up more than 25Words...but they are not. Thanks if anyone knows.
