some of my winning entries

posted 23-4-2008 @ 08:05 PM www

My mum, sister and I had some luck in the Foodland Nivea comp, each winning $100 e-fragrance voucher. We had to answer 'what is beauty?'.

Me:
Beauty is not one size fits all
Not black or white or thin or tall.
The one thing I have found to be true:
Beauty is when you choose to be you.

Mum:
If celebrity beauty is what you believe
Beauty is something you'll never achieve.
Throw those quick fixes in the bin
Beauty is something that comes from within.

Sis:
Ten little fingers, ten perfect toes.
Bright blue eyes and a button nose.
I fell in love, right from the start.
Sometimes beauty is felt with the heart.

Between us we had a 1 in 14 chance of winning the major prize of diamond jewellery but alas! it was not to be. I would love to know the answer that did win.

They are fabulous

here is my cabbage winning entry for a wish card. YOu had to write why you go for cabbage......

Beta–carotene and Vitamin C
Cabbage is healthy and almost fat-free
High levels of calcium, fibre galore
Cabbage; the best value at your grocery store.

My family hate cabbage so it was quite funny to win something on a vege they loathe - me, I don't mind it especially in a salad.

This one won us a snow holiday. You had to choose a ' work day' song and write a limerick about why you wanted the holiday.
Chose Dido's " Sand in my shoes'

Winters sand is snow
Known as a real cool show
No work for a week
A vision we seek
T'would really set us aglow

These are all great and congrats Frizzy on your cabbage win. Here's my non-winning entry for that comp. Guess they just don't appreciate my warped sense of humour.

I disregard the old adage
about “windy” cabbage.
Wong Bok to Savoy,
stuffed or drizzled with soy
I ENJOY, let rip, smile…..
then act coy!

I won a DVD camcorder in the Woolworths Nivea comp with this 25 WOL for what Beauty is (which had to made of only words from the list they supplied)....can't remember exactly, but it was something like this:

"A child with love in her eyes and hope in her heart, dreaming of the perfect future. In her is real beauty."

I won a photo frame in the woolies one with
her hair, her smile, her laugh, my friend, my lover, my wife, she is my perfection, she is my hearts delight.

Last year there was a comp to win a ladder which you had to put in limerick form. I didn't win it but this was my entry.

A henpecked husband from Langwarrin
Wallpapered using the ***Brandname*** ladder he won
his wife said "Hooray"
it only took you a day
and at least something in the house is well hung

My OH didn't like it much though, wonder why :P:P:P

Question was something about most memorable wedding you had been to.

Not a winner, but I liked it! :)

The Prawns were bad, no-one got fed.
Best Man got drunk, broke his leg.
Lightning struck, blew out the lights.
Mother of the Bride got into a fight.
The only good to come out of it all...
is I got it on film and I had a ball!!!!

Kakadu. Did that really happen or did you use poetic license and make it up....Either way, I think it is fabulous.

I got my first decent win today (well, I think it's decent, though pretty small compared to other compers!).

Being a relative newbie (I joined late March) my WOL used to be a sentence. It wasn't until I read some other comper's entries in the forum, that I realised that poetry is the way to go!

I won a KitchenAid mixer - something I have wanted for a long time. I'm ecstatic considering my other two prizes have been a $100 Moshtix voucher (which I can't use in the NT) and a "Chaser" DVD.

In 25 words or less tell us what food means to you.

Pleasure, enjoyment - A want not a need.
I am continually thinking of my next feed.
Christmas, Easter, Birthday dinner
Toasting with family is a winner.

I didnt really think it was a winner...

YIPPEE!!!!!!!!! :P:P:P:P

A LOSING entry....:P To win a Wii fit from Health Smart.

Embarrassment plus!
I was exercising at the local gym, during a mixed session, and doing quite nicely with the weights and my 'knee squats'.
Up, down, up, oops!...I broke wind so loudly, that the gym became silent.
I've never run out of a place so fast in my life!

(it's made up of course!)

I won a holiday to the gold coast when the superman ride was new-
the comp was run by Mitch Dowd with a purchase of 'superman undies' (hubbys of course lol)
the question was something like why do you deserve a trip to movieworld to go on the superman ride

i wrote (not word for word)
"i bought these undies because my wife told me she wanted to go on the superman ride... turns out she just meant at movieworld!"

cheeky, but since it was an undie company i thought it was appropriate. they loved it.
(and it was the best, child free weekend ever lol)
